My Review on The Landmark Hotel @ TripAdvisor : The Landmark Hotel Batu Pahat(haven't complete the post at TripAdvisor yet..will post soon once link available)

Ok!! Cakap pasal Batu Pahat, where to eat??!!! Not sure and don't care??!! Don't be like that, actually a lot of best eating place or makan place at Batu Pahat. Like what??!!! Waaaaiiitttt...you never try never know maaarrr.. :)

Daripada breakfast, Lunch, Minum Petang, Minum Malam..makan malam..macam2x ada!!

OK! Enough, lets go to the point directly. Firstly, don't missed the old school breakfast type at old school "kopitiam".

Kopitiam called "Chop Tong Ah" Chinese name kopitiam but HALAL. I've meet to "makcik" (Auntie) malay and muslim, we shared table with them...both of them are local, wearing tudung, and very nice makcik..they told us, "Makcik selalu datang minum pagi kat sini sejak makcik anak dara lagi.." WOW!! look at the makcik, at least both of them around 60s++, if they went there since "anak dara" (mean when they still single not married normally at 20s")...that mean the coffee shop has been around Batu Pahat for more than 50 years???!!!

If you happened to be at Batu Pahat, Don't miss to have breakfast here..they only open for breakfast only from 8 to 12 PM, if you came at 11AM, if you lucky there will be still some foods left :), tips is go early between 8AM to 9AM+. The shop located right beside "Batu Pahat Wet Market"

Below were the foods we ordered! :)

Satey Lontong & Roti Bakar

To bad! on my visit, no Soto and Mee Rebus, heard their Soto also very nice, but not sure, haven't try it. But Satey Lontong, surely must have! :)

Alright, what about Cendol? You can find the vintage cendol at Batu Pahat. The stall has been there since more than 30 over years. It a family business. This place you must visit and taste their cendol and you must dine-in to have a great original taste of their Cendol. I had 2 bowl of it :)

The store located a long the same road with Chop Tong Ah Kopitiam. Just around 100 meters apart. :)

AKBAR CENDOL
Location: Akbar Cendol Batu Pahat - Jalan Engan
GPS: N 1 50.95, E 102 55.58

They only sell Cendol

Cendol : Nothing quenches your thirst than the sweet taste of Ice Cendol. Cendol is a cold dessert that is a simpler variation of popular Ais Kacang. The signature ingredient is the green coloured Cendol, made from rice flour and green colouring from pandan leaves(screw-pine. With the same base of shaved ice as Ais Kacang, Cendol dessert has cendol, gula melaka (coconut sugar), coconut milk, evaporated milk and red beans. Ok, now lets talk about night life at Batu Pahat..we night life in Batu Pahat is NOTHING :P except for some good place to eat. We drop by at "Sup Sitam". Apprently famous sup in town of Batu Pahat..so apa lagi, kita kasi terjah tengok :) . Tak lar susah nak cari kedai nih, not very hard to find, it just located at the main street of Batu Pahat and right infront of HSBC Bank. So you wont missed it and it will be on your left hand side when you drive a long the main street of Batu Pahat town. And I think only one HSBC in that area..so not that difficult kan? We had Sup Lidah, Sup Campur and Sup Ayam!!
This place run by Malay Muslim guy and the taste of the sup, sort of Mamak's style sup but there is a difference spicy, I think they use some "cili padi" in the sup, but very mild taste. Overall, memang sedap! Delicous! And must go if you at Batu Pahat, they only open at night starting from 6PM.

They have variety of soups!!

"Sup Ayam" I like it to have with bread..sup pekat nice!

Alright, I've been talking most of the time about foods where we can find at sort of "old school" style of stall or restaurant. Now let me blog something that I found unique which is the coffee shop called "Rengit Coffee". It was a decent restaurant name Rengit Coffee, cozy setup, with air-condition.The coffee was original from Batu Bahat, largest coffee grower in Malaysia, Rengit Coffee and also known as Dagan Coffee. There are a lot of choices where you can find in their menu, from local up to western. But whatever you going to have, I highly recommend for you to try their "Vietnamese Coffee", I found it unique and great taste of coffee.

And you know what? I found there is actually Rojak Stall at Batu Pahat. It was recommend by our friend, and I've actually stop by and bought some :). And apprently the owner of this Rojak Stall have some history :D but I don't want to share here that his personal life, but what for sure, his rojak is the nicest one i can find at Batu Pahat.

So if you are at Batu Pahat and craving for Rojak, maybe you can drop by at his stall to have some.

Malacca | Melaka Malaysia

Melaka Makan | Best Makan Place | Eating Place | Foods | Malacca

My Welcome Note: Click Here

First of all, Malacca & Melaka are the same place :)..Malacca is English spelling while Melaka is in Malay spelling. So it the same place...

Recently, We've stayed at Melaka for 3 days 2 nights. Since we are very familiar with Melaka, so we have done nothing much except we have venture for new eating place which we haven't tried before. So mainly what we had was, venture new eating place + have a great time relax at the hotel with my family. The hotel have great facilities like swimming pools, restaurants by the riverside, library which I was impress and had good time reading books there with family, SPA and of course the spacious room with the great view facing the river / canal. Nothing will go wrong expending extra $$ to upgrade your room to River View Room :) Highly Recommended!

We've stayed at a hotel near by the river. If you interested to know about the hotel, please check out my review about the hotel in TripAdvisor.

My Hotel Review @ TripAdvisor : Casa Del Rio Melaka - Click Here

If you at Melaka, in the afternoon, hot sunshine, thirsty ... hmm I would recommend to get quick lunch and cold drink. Our favorite Laksa and Cendol.
Check out the Laksa & Cendol at "Jonker 88", don't forget Sagu Gula Melaka for desert...Delicious!! This all according to my own taste but I recommend for you to try too, on the other hand, if you are a person who don't like sweet taste this might not be for you, because they use very thick "gula melaka" for your cendol and sagu. But overall, we are satisfied with the foods here, and we never missed whenever we visit Melaka, so give it a try!! Reasonable price too.

If you like Asam Pedas (This is local Malaysian Food), don't miss this shop, very famous with Asam Pedas with reasonable price. A lot of people go and eat here, Malay, Indian, Chinese and saw bunch of foreigner also makan kat sini weii... :D . Go give it a try!! We tried, Asam Pedas Ikan Pari, Asam Pedas Tetel and Asam Pedas Ikan Tengiri...nice! I like Pari and Tengiri, - Asam Pedas Claypot.

What is 'Asam Pedas" - Asam Pedas is a Minangkabau sour and spicy stew dish.It popular in Malaysia especially when you visit Melaka.

So, after Asam Pedas, if we have something to wash out the throat will be nice :D, have you heard "Original Coconut Shake Klebang" ? Famous coconut shake in town, fresh and delicious!!Beside coconut shake, they also sell local dishes, like Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang, and other local deserts.

There is a catch for this stall, if you just want to take away (bungkus), just stop at the road side as picture below and bungkus (take away) your coconut shake.

KLEBANG ORIGINAL COCONUT SHAKE

If you want to eat there, dine-in, go ahead into the turning beside the stall by the road side above and you will see arch below at the end of the road about 100 meters away from the turning point.

Our Fav: Coconut Shake and Nasi Lemak Bungkus Daun Pisang

Delicious Coconut Shake with Nasi Lemak
What I order was "Coconut Shake Special" -- come with one scoop Vanilla Ice Cream or you can have it without. My recommendation, go with Coconut Shake Special...highly recommend!!

Now, let check it out Baba & Nyonya Kueh at Melaka. Found this one famous Baba & Nyonya Kueh, super sedap, delicious and if you are looking for traditional taste of baba & nyonya Melaka, DON'T MISS THIS PLACE!! They don't have a shop, they operate the business from home, so it's kinda hard to find this place, but don't worry I have the GPS for you to ease your journey.
BABA CHARLIE
 LOCATION: Baba Charlie@Lorong Tengkera Melaka
GPS: N 2 12.18  E 102 13.86
Operating hour until 3PM Daily and Close on Thursday

Our Fav: Kueh, especially kueh ketayap, bongkong, sagu but basically all others kueh also sedap & Yummy!!! it goes well with black coffee for your evening coffee or tea! "Minum petang" as what they said in Malay Language..See the selection of Kueh they have...
One of my favorite is Kueh Bongkong as below, makan with black coffee kaw!! Lazattttt.... :D

Last but not least, don't forget to buy a pack or 2 nasi lemak from Baba Charlie. Simple Nasi Lemak, it taste so good especially the Nasi made us to come again on the next day to buy the nasi lemak. See the auntie pack the Nasi Lemak fresh from oven, still warm and freshly homemade Nasi Lemak

Alright, now lets talk about my fav "Big eat" direct translation of "Makan Besar" in Malay..haha crazy Malanglish. Well it about "Seafood", some say, or "ada orang cakap" go Umbai but this time, I'm going to "Portuguese Settlement" for seafood. I think this is the second time for me here, but the first time was long time ago, maybe 8 years ago? Hmm cant remember. But what I wanna to highlight is, the place has been changed!! I think ? Or maybe has been renovated . . as far as i recall the place was not so well organized before.

Anyway, lets talk about the foods here. A lot of people recommend "Sea Terrace" --> Stall No 1, but I was unlucky, when I went there it was closed..I guess they close every Monday. So we settled at restaurant no 2..and it was not bad!! Delicious and we liked it!

We ordered : Crab Salted Egg, Butter Prawn (big prawn!),Ginger Lala, Eggplant Portuguese Style, Squid - Sotong Goreng Tepung, Porgutuese Curry Style (quite unique and delicious taste of Portuguese)

PORTUGUESE SETTLEMENT MELAKA

Location : Portuguese Settlement - Stall No 2
GPS : N 2 10.98 , E 102 16.01

TIPS :
1. Go Early!! At least before 7PM if you want to avoid the crowd and
hard time to find parking.
2. Choose your stall before you go (do some research review on the internet and chose the stall prior you go there) Reason is, the moment you park your car, a lot of people will try to pull you to eat at their stall :D

Another thing, that kind of famous at Melaka is "Chicken Rice Ball". But if you want to find the Halal Chicken Rice Ball, it was a very limited choices. Anyway, we found this one shop, sell Halal Chicken Rice Ball, and some more it has been visited by "TV3 Crews - Jalan Jalan Cari Makan". It came out at TV3 as one eating place with nice Chicken Rice Ball and more important is HALAL :). So we gave it a try...and yes NICE!! Especially the roasted chicken with the chicken rice ball. So I would recommend for Muslim if you want to try Chicken Rice Balls and Halal, you can go to this place.

EE JI BAN CHICKEN RICE BALL
Location: EE JI BAN CHICKEN RICE BALL
GPS : N 2 11.30, E 102 15.21

Can't remember the road name, but it at Taman Melaka Raya. Same area where you can find Holiday Inn Hotel, and if you drive further more you will see a lot of shop lot area, their shop somewhere inside there. Anyway, I have the GPS recorded for you as above.

I order Chicken Rice Ball, Roast Chicken, Vege and Cincalok Omellete.
Overall was nice and MUST TRY!

Last but not least, I had "Kari Kepala Ikan" (Fish Head Curry). The key of this, was not Mamak Fish Curry Head, it was local Melaka cooked by Malay chap. Do drop by at the restaurant "Restaurant Isenin", located at Semabok Melaka.

RESTAURANT ISENIN SEMABOK MELAKA - FISH HEAD CURRY

My fav is tendon, saba shioyaki or sake shioyaki, kitsune soba and of course miso soup dia memang terbaik, my whole family like this place as well.

What I can recommend, the Japanese foods there give a taste of real Japanese foods, and a lot of Japanese have lunch or dinner at this restaurant.

Otherwise, if sometime I go there just to eat their noodle or sashimi or Ala-carte,
then cawan mushi can be order separately too.

This is my family favourite to eat together :)
Agedashi Tofu..the tofu so fine, coated outside, fried and eat with sauce..
so soft outside and very soft inside nice! should try.

Terengganu, Malaysia

Terengganu | Dungun | Keropok | Makan Places | Eating Places

My Welcome Note: Click Here

What is the best at Dungun Terengganu ? I'm not sure, because most of the time we stayed within the hotel compound to enjoy our vacation and we were staying at hotel called "Tanjong Jara Resort".

Firstly would like to comment about the hotel, it was nice and superb. All you need are in the hotel, that why we much enjoy staying inside rather than going out. :)

See my review at TripAdvisor about "Tanjong Jara Resort, Dungun Terengganu"

I'm not going to comment much about the hotel, if you interested to know about the hotel please visit my review at TripAdvisor as per link stated above.

This entry aku nak cakap pasal Keropok Lekor, the best Keropok Lekor at Terengganu is on the way to Kuala Terengganu, you will pass by Pantai Kelulut..ha kat situ lar korang carik kedai keropok lekor..yang paling famous and sedap adalah "Keropok Lekor 008" tepi jalan depan ..infront of the Kelulut Beach...
