Plan B @ Bangsar Village | Kuala Lumpur

Eating Places | Bangsar | Kuala Lumpur | Western | Burger | Coffee Bar

I had dinner with my family at this place last year. The restaurant called - "Plan B" , interesting name huh? And yes they had interesting setup and interesting tasty foods too.
We haven't try it all, but what I had that time was Chicken burger with sweet potatoes chip! Nice! Should try this restaurant.

They serve western foods and some Italian cuisine as well. The desert look delicious but we just don't have much time to enjoy other stuff since our small son grumbling and cannot stay put! LOL..so we have to go back as soon as we finished the foods.

But I would recommend this restaurant, if you like to have light western meal like burger, sandwich, cakes, coffee..it a place to chill out have good meal while chit-chat with family and friends.

Location: At Maju Junction Mall Kuala Lumpur, near Sogo and Pertama Complex. Just opposite Sime Darby building.
GPS: N 3 9.64 , E 101 41.75

Since I'm just began to be a big fan of Dim Sum, so I can't remember what we order, because my wife who love Dim Sum has taken care of all the dishes we had eaten. All was delicious which made myself fall into Dim Sum as one of my favorite food to have. Yes it in my FAV LIST now :)

I don't remember this menu, but it was delicious and crispy. Goes well with the sauce they provided. As the other dishes come along, we did enjoy our foods there. Taste good and according to my wife, this place is the best place for good dim sum in Kuala Lumpur.

The porridge was tasty even my son like it which quite rare, because he only like Mac'D porridge compare to other porridge that we ever had :P

You can go and try it, for us it suited our taste and we found it very delicious and tasty.

Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant | Langkawi Kedah

Eating Place | Langkawi Eating Place | Jalan Jalan Cari Makan | Kedah

DINNER AT UNKAIZEN JAPANESE RESTAURANT LANGKAWI

Location : Unkaizan Japanese Restaurant
GPS: Sorry forgot to save it, but it near by Holiday Villa, drive up a little bit to the mountain and you will see the signboard on your left.
Just keep driving along the road.
Address : Lot 395, Jalan Telok Baru Pantai Tengah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah Malaysia

I ordered Sake Shio Yaki, with rice, tempura and some sashimi. Look at the way they serve the rice, was traditionally prepared - Japanese old school way :)
Overall, the foods was very good but a bit pricy. It has the authentic taste of Japanese .
My wife love it and overall we very satisfied with the foods here as well as the service.
The restaurant was own by the Japanese, and seem the owner have hired Japanese Native to run the restaurant, which make the restaurant really Japanese environment restaurant, not like some other Japanese restaurant you can find in Kuala Lumpur where run by Chinese or Malay owner. During my visit to the restaurant, at least more than 2 waitress were Japanese and the cashier was Japanese native as well.  Definately will comeback here if we go to Langkawi again..

Siem Reap | Cambodia

Siem Reap Cambodia | Eating Place | Foods | Local Cuisine |

My Welcome Note: Click Here

Let's go straight to the point, where to eat? I've been to Siem Reap back in 2012 to celebrate my wife birthday there, while visiting the ancient places at Siem Reap. Some of people not sure where to eat and where to find good foods at Siem Reap, but we did explored few places and tried nice tasty.

First I would recommend if you want to taste good foods of Khamer, try this place called.. "The Touich Restaurant". We had grilled tiger prawn and red snapper. Nice!! Highly recommend if you try red snapper, i think one of their specialty there. You would expected to pay between USD 2 to USD 18. I think its quite reasonable.

You can visit my review about Touich Restaurant at TripAdvisor - Click Here, and others review about the restaurant. The restaurant rank# 5 in TripAdvisor out of 396 restaurants around siem reap been reviewed in TripAdvisor.

Last but not least, don't forget to try their Khmer Dessert which I found quite unique and truly local Siem Reap style.

Khmer Desert

Beside The Touich, we also been to "Sugar Palm Restaurant". Heard they have a good A Mok Fish, we went there and ate, A Mok Fish, Mango Salad with smoked fish, and vege fried rice. The taste is so-so, and i think it over-rated. Price compare to the taste i think it was not reasonable. Better if you go to The Touich.

However, "Sugar Palm Restaurant" is nicely decorated, cozy and suitable if you want to have nice relax dinner with family or friends. You won't regrets on the restaurant look wise and foods presentation wise...but if you look for taste wise, I would not recommend to go here. Please check out my review at TripAdvisor about Sugar Palm Restaurant Siem Reap - Click Here.

SIDDHARTA BOUTIQUE HOTEL SIEM REAP.

Alright, now I will stop talking about foods at Siem Reap for a while. Let's talk a little bit on where we were staying. We've stayed at boutique hotel in Siem Reap called "Siddharta Boutique Hotel". You may go to TripAdvisor to read my full review - Click Here.

Very simple hotel yet it quite nice and cozy. We love the privacy and quiteness there, when you come back after the long walk to visit temples at Siem Reap, came back tired, you just want to relax..I think this hotel quite full filled our needed.

Sometime, we do went out early morning to catch the Sun Rise, the do pack our breakfast to bring along..so you can picnic having breakfast while watching the sun rise and breath the fresh air in the morning.

Below are some picture taken during our stay at this hotel.

How the foods here? We didn't have any lunch or dinner at this hotel. Mostly we ate outside the hotel tried local foods at the local restaurants. HOWEVERRRR......we love the breakfast served at this hotel. Not much variety, but the foods and selection they have very tasty and I liked the Jam, they have variety of Jam and all are homemade!!Tasty.

I can't remember what Jam I've took..but what I remember they have more than 5 types of Jam... I think 2 of it in the picture were orange and pineapples Jam.

Alright, now lets go back about foods at Siem Reap. See below? Another A Mok Fish. This time we tried at "The Angkor Palm Restaurant" - My TripAdvisor Review Click Here.

We had A Mok Fish and Vege Spring Roll. Both quite nice, the A Mok Fish taste was better than Sugar Palm Restaurant.

While you at Siem Reap, another must place to go is the Night Market. Don't missed it. You can find a lot of things at their night market at the cheap price. Even for massage by the road side. We had reflexology massage after long walk visit temples in the morning.

Remember "Tomb Rider" movie - sexy hot Angelina Jolie acting in this movie? The movie has been use Siem Reap as the location in the film. There is part the use tample "Ta Prohm" to do the film shoot.

Anyway, what I wanted to say...hehehe..Angelina Jolie always hangout at this "Red Piano Restaurant" during her shooting at Siem Reap. We wanted to try and eat or drink here, but we were lost find the place and we found Karaoke instead..so we went into Karaoke :D. When we done with Karaoke, only we found Red Piano!!

Let's back to food. We went to this restaurant called, "Green Star Restaurant" - read my review on TripAdvisor Click Here. The restaurant is Not a Profit restaurant, so you can expect they privately funded by this 2 lovely person Doug and Avee. We tried A Mok Fish and this corn dishes (forgot the name), it was tasty!! We love the taste even better than Sugar Palm & Angkor Palm Restaurant. The A Mok Fish here is better and the corn that we hand superb nice. Should try..but sorry I forgot the name, but you can ask them. I think the only corn dishes and their specialty. This restaurant serve great taste of local khmer local foods! Should go!!

Lastly, as I mentioned earlier, we had tried several restaurants that serve A Mok Fish, and we found the best one among the best. It was the the Cambodian Village Restaurant - Read my review at TripAdvisor - Click Here. Ok firstly, Cambodian Village don't expect much, but you can go to their restaurant. We found the have a great A Mok Fish, the taste and gravy and herb they used, is so well balance and taste good!!

I highly recommend this place if you like to try great taste of A Mok Fish. Love the gravy was thick and tasted all the herbs they mixed. Very Delicious.

Cameron Highlands | Pahang Malaysia

Eating Place | Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan | Cameron Highlands | Foods

My Welcome Note : Click Here

Cameron Highlands is situated at northwestern tip of Pahang state in Malaysia. If Malaysian want to experience Spring weather without going anywhere, they can stay at Cameron Highlands, and a lot of hotel can be choose from, example Equatorial Hotel and others I can't remember, but there are a lot. The mean annual temperature of the resort is about 18 °C (64 °F). During the day, the temperature seldom rises above 25 °C (77 °F); at night, it can rarely drop to as low as 9 °C (48 °F) at the higher areas.

My last visit to Cameron Highlands, we stayed at Century Pines. Lovely hotel, if you would like to know more about this hotel, please visit my review on this hotel at TripAdvisor : Click Here

Take note, just to share some tips, if you plan to visit Cameron Highlands try to avoid school holidays, because the accommodation price will go up as well as will have a lot of people everywhere..its kinda crowded. My last visit was on non-School Holiday 3D2N from Friday to Sunday, because we don't want to miss the 'Night Market' must go if you plan to visit Cameron Highland. However, the night market only can be found on Friday and Saturday night at Brinchang town. More info on the night market -> Click Here

Let's talk what type of food you can find at Cameron Highlands, well since the temperature there quite low at night, so famous for dinner is always SteamBoat. We found this Halal Steamboat place near Hotel De La Ferns. Very easy to find it, it was between Tanah Rata and Brinchang. You find the "Hotel De La Ferns" you will find the steamboat place just beside the hotel and you wont missed it because it was just by the road side. We had steamboat here, quite ok, with the cold weather and having steamboat, nothing will go wrong :)

You can choose weather to have the soup base "Chicken" or "Tomyam"
Tomyam is the Thailand style hot soup. We had it both chicken and tomyam.

Overall the taste was not so bad, but i guess because we had it at night, the weather is cold so the steamboat taste, the hot soup quite accommodating to get some heat for your body :)

On the other hand, my wife love scones very much (so it seem), so we had ventured few places to try the local scone at Cameron Highland. We've been to few places, "Vintage Cafe" at Tanah Rata, Cafe at SmokeHouse Cameron Highland and "T-Cafe" at Tanah Rata. My wife verdict was the one at Vintage Cafe and T-Cafe was the best for her. And yes, I do admit, it was nice :)

SCONES at Vintage Cafe, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands

SCONES at T-Cafe, Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands

SCONES at SmokeHouse Cameron Highland

While you at Cameron, don't forget to pay a visit to BOH Plantation Center at Sungei Palas. Where this is the farm or i think more to plantation of the BOH Tea and where the produce the tea for BOH. They have nice cafe overlook the plantation and some other shop where you can buy souvenir or difference type of fresh tea leaves (processed or not processed).

BOH TEA CENTER - SUNGEI PALAS

Must go, this place ! Nice view ehh ?
We had stop here and drink some hot tea, mushroom soup and sandwich.

Strawberry ? Yes, Cameron Highland have a lot of Strawberry farm you can visit and eat their Strawberry, fresh from the farm. Locals recommended to us to go visit the farm near Equatorial Hotel. You can eat fresh strawberry there or you can plug the strawberry by yourself. Good place to bring your family and kids in the farm and plugging our own strawberry. You can select from the farm.

Our Pick!

Kuantan | Pahang Malaysia

Eating Place | Lunch | Dining | Kuantan Pahang | Teluk Cempedak | Chempedak | Makan

My Welcome Note: Click Here

I've been to Kuantan last year, with family for short vacation 4D3N. We have stayed at one of the hotel at Teluk Cempedak. So what else, beside holidays with family, we have tried some local foods at Kuantan. First let begin with Teluk Cempedak it self.

WOW!! Teluk Cempedak has been changed compare to the last time I've visited. Now they have a lot of eating places there, basically you wont go hungry day or night, even Burger King, KFC now available at Teluk Cempedak!

We've found one burger joint at Teluk Cempedak, which was kinda interesting. Maybe they name of the stall as I recall, the taste of the burger not something I would remember :P, however, the stall name was something catchy that made me remember until now. If you happen to be at Teluk Cempedak, don't forget to try it out and let me know how it taste. For me, I would say "So..so..not that tasty" but worth to try since we are all at Teluk Cempedak.

BUGERMBIRA
Location: Burgermbira - Right at the turning into Hyatt Hotel at Teluk Cempedak.

If you are at Pahang or Kuantan, don't forget to try out the local fish dishes, IKAN PATIN.
There is a famous restaurant at Kuantan for Lunch, Akob Patin House. This restaurant sell ikan patin masak lemak and others "lauk-pauk"

Akob Patin House
Location: Akob Patin House
Address : Tapak PCCL Jalan Besar, 25000 Kuantan
Phone: +6019-9874463 / +6013-9312709 / +6019-9470989

The fish was so tender, no smell, soft, we had it with "Gulai Lemak Tempoyak"
Nice and recommend to have a lunch here.

After we had good lunch at Akob Patin House, on the way back to our Hotel at Teluk Cempedak, we drop by to have a bowl of Cendol. Famous cendol here, Mustapa Cendol.
MUST TRY!!! Don't missed it. If you from Kuantan on the way to Teluk Cempedak, you will see Mustapa Cendol on your right hand side nearby Shell Petrol Station.

Should go there and try their cendol and rojak. Highly recommended by most people and including myself. I've tried it and I love it!

Like mentioned, If you driving toward Teluk Cempedak, you will see Mustafa Cendol on your right just beside Shell Petrol Station.

Langkawi | Kedah Malaysia

Eating Place | Makan Best | Langkawi Eating Place | Jalan Jalan Cari Makan | Kedah

My Welcome Note: Click Here

Langkawi is located at state of Kedah Malaysia and about 30km~40km of the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. Langkawi is an island by itself and part of the state of Kedah. I've been here for few times, with my recent visit I've stayed a bit longer than usual to enjoy the holiday with my family.

We have stayed at 2 different hotel during our visit just to have  a difference flavor of location since we been staying for 1 week.First half of the week we stayed at a hotel at area of Pantai Tengah Langkawi and the other half of week we have stayed at Pantai Kok Langkawi. If you looking for the happening place, you can choose to stay at Pantai Cenang Langkawi.

I would recommend if you want to have a peaceful area, relaxing with family or couple, please try search hotel at the Pantai Kok area. You might find good peaceful hotel there away from the crowd.

We have stayed at Tanjung Santuary - Beachfront Villa , and it was awesome, truly relaxing and had a good time with my wife and kids. You will not regrets.

Ok now, lets talk about what I had or ate when we were staying at Langkawi. On the first night we have visited this local restaurant near by Holiday Villa Hotel, the restaurant called Maya Restaurant. It run by locals, and they serving local foods. I tell you, the cook is good! I taste was like you had your mum cooking at home. They used fresh ingredients,we ordered "Ikan Kerapu Sweet & Sour" (Fish Dish), Oxtail Sup, Duck Green Curry, "Telur Dadar" - Omelet Malaysian Style & White rice. Hmmm it was nice. The foods that we order are actually typical menu that you can find at any stall at Malaysia, but what difference in Maya Restaurant was, the taste and they way they cooked it is really like homemade style of cooking where you can have all the taste which needed were there in the foods. Maybe I would say, "Cook with Love" , obviously this restaurant they focus on the food quality rather than to make money from the customer.

Take note that, this restaurant is not the 5 stars restaurant, it just normal local Malaysian style restaurant. Don't expect air-condition, fancy plate with expensive fork and spoon.

Recommend for all to go and try regardless if you are Malaysian or Tourist. Should give a try if you looking to have a local Malaysian Taste.

MAYA RESTAURANT

LOCATION: MAYA RESTAURANT - Near / Infront of Holiday Villa Hotel
GPS: N 6 16.52 ,  E 99 44.05
Another local food that famous at Langkawi is Laksa Kedah. Again, I found this stall near by Langkawi Airport Runaway - where you can eat Laksa and Cendol while enjoying view of the sea and aircraft take off or landing :D
They call this stall (actually not a stall, just a van carry the foods). Hawker style. The name is "Laksa Power". You wont miss it if you going to Airport direction it will be on your left hand by the sea.
LAKSA POWER

Location : Laksa Power - Near Langkawi Airport
GPS: N 6 19.50 , E 99 43.37

This what we had, Rojak, Laksa and Cendol
They have variety of Rojak that you can select from, and also Laksa and Cendol

Ok what else? We drove down from our hotel at Pantai Kok - Tanjung Santuary. Drove down to the near by Petronas (To Fuel up / Petrol Station). After that? Well hungry, we went nearby there, and saw on building and the restaurant signboard say "Maharaja Restaurant". The restaurant is located nearby Petronas Petrol station, you will need to drive along Pantai Kok Road, until you reach at Perdana Quay (where you can see a lot of boats, private boats docking). When you see Petronas, the restaurant is somewhere hidden behind Petronas.

This restaurant serve Arabic cuisine, but somehow I found butter curry chicken in the menu(does it more indian?), so I order "Butter Curry Chicken". Turn out it was nice, the curry is thick with mild taste of butter and some yogurt. Delicious! I think the restaurant have both Indian and Arabic cuisine.

They have nice cozy setup of the restaurant, if you prefer eating outside at their patio will be wonderful view facing the Perdana Quay. The restaurant is open from 11AM to 11PM if I'm not mistaken. So dinner here will be awesome too with the delicious foods they have.

But as mentioned, drive down along Pantai Kok Road, until you reach Perdana Quay, when you see Petronas, the restaurant already nearby hidden behind Petronas.

View from the Maharaja Restaurant

Another spot that I would recommend, is "The Loaf" restaurant at Langkawi, it at Perdana Quay as well. They have both local and western or eastern cuisine. Below was what we choose to ate that day.

What myself, wife and kids ordered ;) Look delicious? It does taste delicious too!!
I can't remember the name, but the one with eggs, was their signature lunch set. with potatoes, vege, egg and patty beef. The brown sauce was super nice, does well with egg and the beef. As you see the big prawn stick out of the bread, that was soup. It actually a bread, they dig the hole at the middle, and pour the soup in, creative heh.. :)
Overall, the foods here are delicious, and tasty...not sure, maybe I'm bias, but it does taste very good compare to The Loaf @ Bangsar Village Kuala Lumpur :P

THE LOAF LANGKAWI KEDAH
GPS: Sorry forgot to save it - it was at Perdana Quay

After all western, local food, we had gone to Eastern food..oh Well it Japanese Foods.
Highly recommend Japanese Foods at Langkawi, please go to Unkaizen, it will not fail you. The restaurant nicely setup based on Japanese zen concept. You can choose to eat inside the restaurant of eat outside and have a great sunset view. (Take note if you decided to eat outside, please wear long pants to avoid mosquito)

DINNER AT UNKAIZEN JAPANESE RESTAURANT LANGKAWI
Location : Unkaizan Japanese Restaurant

Just keep driving along the road.

During my visit to the restaurant, at least more than 2 waitress were Japanese and the cashier was Japanese native as well.  Definately will comeback here if we go to Langkawi again..

One day we went to Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall to find something for my wife. While we were there shopping, we saw this one shop where they sell wood carving, some nice fine arts and believe it or not, they have cafe inside. They all it "Tropical Living Restaurant". So we had short stop to have a drink and I've tried their Mushroom soup with garlic bread..and it was really not disappoint us. The taste of freshly made Mushroom soup was very delicious, and you can taste the fine cut of the mushroom itself when you sipping your soup!
