Umai Cafe | Putrajaya

Eating Place| Putrajaya | Local Malaysian Foods

20 FEB 2002 - Important Date for me!

20 Feb - This is important date of my life, it our anniversary date me and my wife. Year 2014 will be our 12th Anniversary together and hope it will bring more "berkat", "rahmat" to our family and more happiness and love between us. :)

Normally, for our anniversary we will go for vacation with the kids or without. Last year we went spend our time at Dungun Terengannu - Tanjung Jara Resort to celebrate our anniversary. And this year, we have decided not to go anywhere, but we took 2 days leave Thursday and Friday to spend our time doing healthy activities and eat some good foods that my wife wanted to eat! :)

Healthy activities = We did "RunWalk" for 15km around Putrajaya and had pit stop for breakfast at Umai Cafe, one of our favorite local cafe at Putrajaya. We've been here quite number of times since it so close to our house. And sometime we or my wife joined the cycling group in Putrajaya and we always had our breakfast here at Umai Cafe.

Umai Cafe serve local Malaysian foods, from breakfast, lunch or dinner. What the best about this restaurant? Of course the foods and most important is the location of the Cafe. It right beside the lake with the nice scenery!

Umai Cafe View - Outdoor Seating

The Cafe open start from 9AM morning until 11 PM
Location is at Putrajaya near Monument.
For more details of the location you can visit their blog

So cut the long story short, after our "Anniversary Activity" - RunWalk, we stop by here for breakfast :D. We had mee curry, mee goreng basah, famous cucur udang (highly recommended) with drinks limau laychee. It was simple and tasty, it complete our morning activities after runwalk perfectly!

I like the curry mee there beside Berjaya Restaurant, because the gravy is thick and perfectly CURRY!!

Also, if you guys go there, don't forget to try their Cucur Udang. We always order their cucur udang whenever we pay a visit to eat there :)

Forgot to take my drink picture, the Limau Laychee...very sedap!! you should try it.

To be continue, there are a lot other post that related to our Anniversary celebration that I will post into this blog especially on the eating place that we have been during our 12th Anniversary Celebration.

Restaurant Berjaya | Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Eating Place | Chinese Muslim Halal Foods | Lunch | Bangsar | Chinese Muslim Restaurant

I think most of us Malaysian know Bangsar. This place is really happening day and night for a lot of reasons. But for me, only one reason, foods. You can find any kind of foods at Bangsar, from Eastern to Western.

Today, I'm going to bring you to one place called "Restaurant Berjaya". My kind of restaurant, hawker style restaurant. This is Chinese Muslim restaurant, they serve local foods more toward Chinese style and Nyonya style.

This is one of our (myself and family) fav place at Bangsar. Our favorite dishes as below.
- Curry Mee with "Kerang Lebih"
- Wantan Mee
- Mix Rice (with grilled slice meat, vege etc)

Those are only 3 my favorite all time. Regardless we eat there dine-in or take-away, that will be our favorite dishes.

I've been to this restaurant since 2003, and until now myself and family still visiting there to eat (but now most of the time we take-away). Problem now, we can't find the parking, quite hard to find parking at that area.

Their Curry Mee - is superb! Wantan Mee - is Yummy! Mix rice - Make you always want to come again!

Restoran Berjaya Bangsar
Address : 44 Jalan Telawi, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, 59100, Malaysia

Our last visit, as I mentioned above, since the parking is quite hard to get, we only "tapau" = Take Away = ToGo. We take away, curry me and mix rice.

Above in the middle, is my fav, the "slice meat" that I talking about. Goes very well with White Rice, Kuah Masak Lemak, Bagedil, Paru and some vege. Delicous to the max!

I forgot to snap curry mee picture. Don't worry it taste better that it look.

Aunty Aini's Garden Cafe | Nilai | Negeri Sembilan

Eating Places | Nilai Negeri Sembilan| Golf | Aunty Aini's | Masak Lemak | Best Foods

Nilai Springs Golf & Country Club, Yes that was my destination last Friday. To do what? Hmm what else, Golfing with my friends. Nilai Springs is one of my favorite place to play golf with friends, I even play golf with my wife here sometime. Why I said is my favorite place is because, Nilai Spring has quite good and relaxing course with the reasonable price, and good facilities as well. On the other hand why I like to play at Nilai is because, after you had good golf game, take a shower, bath, clean up and refreshing your body, once you done with that, what else time to have GOOD LUNCH!!

But wait, the catch here, the good lunch place I'm referring to was not located at Nilai Springs itself, it located nearby about 10 minutes driving from Nilai Spring Golf & Country Club.

The place that I was referring to was located at the "kampung" area, the restaurant called, "Aunty Aini's Garden Cafe". How to go there? Well, kinda hard to explain but I've save the GPS Coordinate on my last visit on Friday for your convenience.(See below on my last picture)

I've been to this place for so many times with families and friends. And now since I have my own blog for foods, definitely I will include this entry.

What is so great about this place? Firstly of course about the foods. Secondly the atmosphere and the restaurant setup - Garden Style!

What do they serve? They have local Malaysian and Western cuisines. My advice, go with local Malaysia cuisines. Their specialty is Local Malaysian Cuisine especially Negeri Sembilan Cuisine - "Masak Lemak Cili Padi or Masak Lemak Gulai Tempoyak".

Technically, I've tried all their local cuisine and I would highly recommend - ALL ARE GOOD TASTE! (provided if you like Negeri Sembilan Cook Style).

The Entrance

They Have Western, Menu List Below is my favorite

This what me and my friends order.
Daging Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi
Udang Galah Masak Sambal Tumis Petai
Ayam Kampung Goreng (not in picture)
Sambal Belacan and Ulam

On my visit this time I didn't order Gulai Lemak Tempoyak and Asam Pedas, but, all in the menu in my picture above you can order from, no regrets.

Garden Style Environment Restaurant.

Another things, once you done ate all your foods, don't forget to their dessert, simple and nice to wash out your mouth. It called "Tapai with Vanilla Ice Cream". Super delicious we love it very much and will not end out meals without this! :)

Notice the lady in Red shirt - short hair.
She is the owner of the Restaurant. Very friendly.

Found this video on YouTube about the restaurant and the interview with the owner.

Restaurant Murni Bukit Jalil | Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Eating Place | Kuala Lumpur | Bukit Jalil | Restoran Murni

Weekend sometime is always the time to eat outside with family or friends. Plus, weather today quite hot outside, few days Kuala Lumpur was without rain. So basically it was hot and humid + you will pretty much feel thirsty and want to a sip of cold drinks.

My BlackBerry rang, pick up, then heard a very husky voice at the end of the line. Oh it was my friend, asked me to have a drink..I said where? He told me lets meet up at Murni bukit Jalil and he will call the other friend of us who are staying at Bukit Jalil to join us.

So to cut the story short, I never been to Restaurant Murni Bukit Jalil before, so this is my first time. Heard about Restaurant Murni SS2 was quite good, big portion, creative menu, fusion etc. So this is the time for me to give it a try at Restaurant Murni Bukit Jalil.

Hell yeah!! The menu very much variety and the name of the dishes it was something cool? Not sure..hahah, I had "Nasi Goreang Meletop with Chicken Chop". It quite tasty but very HOT! That is why they call it MELETOP = HOT, and the Chicken Chop is quite regular taste nothing to WOW.

But what interesting was the combination of the menu and drinks. I really can't suggest which one to order, but I suggest you guy go there and try it yourself. A lot you can choose from, but I heard the "Mee Raja" is quite good, haven't try that, next round I will.

Below what I had, Nasi Goreng Meletop with Chicken Chop. The best part is you actually can customize your menu. Like mine, is only Nasi Goreng Meletop (Super Pedas), but I asked to add on Chicken Chop to come with it.

The Menu of Nasik Goreng
( I forgot to took picture, this I pick up from the internet menu picture)

Overall, I like this place because the portion is BIG and the price was reasonable. The taste was OK. And the other things, they have a lot of drinks you can choose from.

So this place I would recommend if you like to hang out with your friends or even you can bring your whole family to eat they food while have a good time there with a very reasonable price.

Restaurant Murni Bukit Jalil Address (I didn't save the address or GPS, below I took from Internet for your convenience)

Chawan Cafe | Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Eating Place | Chawan Cafe | Local Coffee | Breakfast | Makan

Last week on Thursday, I had to go out early in the morning with my wife and kids heading to Pantai Hospital for my younger son appointment. However, due to Chinese New Year holiday we reached there quite early. So what else, while waiting for the doctor to open his clinic, we round at Bangsar to have some breakfast.

So we end up stop at Chawan Cafe at Bangsar, near by Bangsar Village. I've been here few time with family and friends. They do serve breakfast as early 8AM, as well as Lunch and Dinner.

The breakfast at Chawan Cafe to me seem normal, where you can get else where quite the same. But what I like about this Cafe is their selection of Coffee. They have several type of coffee representing some town in Malaysia.Like Coffee Kulim, Kopi Batu Pahat, Kopi Tenom and some others local Malaysian Coffee.

I think if you coffee lover, and would love to try variety of Local Malaysian Coffee. You can stop by this Cafe to try out the coffee. It located just opposite Bangsar Village.

Location : Chawan Bangsar (Near Bangsar Village)
GPS : N 3 7.80 , E 101 40.27

This what I had that day for breakfast. Local Tenom Coffee, roti bakar and half boiled eggs. The Coffee was great.

The food here was OK to me, and they serve most of it local Malaysian cuisine. So if you would like to try local Malaysian foods and Local Malaysian Coffee, this will be great place to go with family, friends.

Nasi Lemak Cyberjaya | Selangor

Eating Place | Cyberjaya | Selangor | Best Nasi Lemak | Local Malaysia Foods

Alright, actually I'm on diet now, controlling my eating habit. Sure or not, well..hell YES!! Putting on weight recently and my wife been teasing me that I'm getting round.
So I'm trying to limit my foods intake, and recently started eating healthy foods..for example, I've brought lunch box - mix salad.

But today!! I've decided to Breakfast like a KING, lunch like a PRINCES and dinner like a beggar. So technically, when I driving to office this morning, I've stop at my favorite place to eat "Nasik Lemak". And I promise you, no lunch for me today and will plan to have salad as my dinner.

So anyway, back to Nasi Lemak. Near my office in Cyberjaya, a lot of places sell Nasi Lemak in the morning, including Mamak Stall. But my favorite always Nasi Lemak at Bus Terminal Cyberjaya.

A lot of stall at Bus Terminal Cyberjaya open in morning and serve breakfast. You can find so many type of local Malaysia foods including Nasi Lemak.

Nasi Lemak is a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and "pandan" leaf commonly found in Malaysia, where it is considered the national dish. For locals we well aware about this "poisonous" dish (like it so much for most Malaysian), but for foreigner you must try this Nasi Lemak.

Basic Nasi Lemak serve with Sambal  & Ikan Bilis, but sometime you can add other stuff and eat it together.

My Fav is : Nasik Lemak with Sambal Sotong, Kerang and Paru as you can see below. I just ate it this morning.

I love to eat Nasi Lemak at this place because, the rice is so nicely cook and they have a lot of variety for you to choose and eat with your Nasi Lemak. I recommend this stall, it located at Cyberjaya Bus Terminal - Stall No : "O". Beside Nasi Lemak they sell Roti Canai as well...very nice malay chap, I think the owner always smiling when talking to you and friendly.

So if you come to have breakfast at Cyberjaya and wanted to try local breakfast with local environment, try to go to this place at Bus Terminal Cyberjaya. You just can ask around if you are not sure where, because most people at Cyberjaya will know the place..just ask them, "Where is Cyberjaya Bus Terminal"
